Corkly Privacy Policy

Effective September 29, 2026

Who we are

Corkly LLC operates corkly.tv, a story-planning app for writers. This policy describes the information we collect, why we use it, and your choices. Contact andy@corkly.tv for privacy questions or requests. Mailing address: Corkly LLC, 418 Broadway, STE N, Albany, NY 12207.

Information you provide

Account information includes your email address, name, account creation information, and a password hash if you use a password. We do not store your password in readable form. If you use Google sign-in, Google provides information including your name, verified email address, and Google account identifier. We do not receive your Google password. We store the writing, cards, project details, settings, and other content you save to your account. We also receive messages and attachments you choose to send us for support.

Technical information and browser storage

The service and its infrastructure providers process technical information such as IP addresses, browser or device information, request times, page addresses, and security or error logs. Corkly sends startup error reports containing information such as the page address, browser information, and error details to help diagnose failures. We use sign-in cookies, including a stay-signed-in cookie that can last up to one year and can be renewed when used. We also use browser storage for preferences and local recovery copies of your projects. Blocking these functions may prevent sign-in or reliable saving.

Local copies and shared devices

Project copies can remain in your browser after you sign out, separately from the copy saved to your Corkly account. Someone with access to that browser profile or device may be able to inspect its stored data. Use a trusted device or separate browser profile for private work. To remove local copies, first confirm that your work has saved and export any needed backup, then sign out and clear Corkly's site data in your browser. Clearing site data can permanently remove work that has not reached the server. Deleting an account does not remotely erase exports or copies retained on your devices.

Emails

When you use “email yourself the link,” we use the address to send the requested link. We retain the request address and time to measure whether visitors later create accounts; this does not subscribe you to marketing. We also use request IP information to limit abuse, and the application clears that field for requests older than seven days when the form is next processed. Separate infrastructure logs may follow different retention schedules. Creating a Corkly account does not subscribe you to marketing. We may send necessary account, security, or service messages.

How we use information

We use information to provide accounts and saved projects, authenticate users, deliver requested emails, respond to support, troubleshoot problems, prevent abuse, understand site performance and use, and meet legal obligations. Your writing remains yours. We do not sell your personal information or writing, use it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use your writing to train generative AI models. We do not send your writing to an AI model to generate or improve it.

Service providers and other disclosures

We use MochaHost for hosting and server storage and Cloudflare for website delivery, protection, and web analytics. Google provides optional sign-in and externally loaded fonts. These providers receive information needed for their functions; for example, loading fonts involves a request from your browser to Google, and Google sign-in involves communicating with Google. Our email delivery provider processes recipient addresses and the messages we send, such as password-reset messages and requested links. Authorized operators and providers may access information as necessary to operate, secure, or support the service. We may disclose information to comply with law, protect rights and safety, or respond to a valid legal request. A merger, acquisition, or transfer of the business may involve information transfer subject to applicable law and appropriate notice. We do not make saved projects public.

Retention and deletion

We retain account information and saved projects while the account is active and as needed to provide the service. You can delete projects in the app or request account deletion at andy@corkly.tv. We may verify your identity before acting. After a verified deletion request, we remove the relevant information from active systems, subject to lawful exceptions such as security investigations or legal obligations. Copies may remain in restricted backups until those backups are replaced or deleted; they are retained for recovery rather than ordinary use. If a backup is restored, applicable deletion requests must be reapplied. Retention of support messages, request records, and technical logs depends on the purpose, security needs, and applicable legal requirements. We do not promise that deleting a card or project immediately removes every recovery or backup copy.

Your choices and rights

You can export your work using Corkly's export and backup features. Contact andy@corkly.tv to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct information about you, or request deletion of your account. Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have additional rights, such as restriction, objection, portability, or a complaint to a data-protection authority. We will handle applicable requests without unlawful discrimination. To protect your privacy, we may verify your identity before providing account information or acting on a request. You can manage cookies and local storage through your browser and manage Corkly's access through your Google account settings if you use Google sign-in.

Security and location

We use measures intended to protect information, including access controls and password hashing. No online service is completely secure. Corkly is not end-to-end encrypted: its operators and infrastructure providers can have access to stored content. Corkly LLC operates in the United States, and information may be processed in the United States and other locations where our providers operate.

Age and policy changes

Corkly accounts are for people 13 and older, subject to any higher minimum age required by applicable law. Users who have not reached legal adulthood need parent or guardian agreement as described in the Terms of Service. Corkly is not directed to children under 13, and they may not create accounts. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact andy@corkly.tv so we can investigate. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13, we will disable the account and delete the child's personal information as required by applicable law. We will update this policy when practices change and give additional notice of material changes as appropriate. The published policy will state its effective date.
